About Us
Our Story
My journey with Tarmunggie is deeply personal, born from a desire to heal and reclaim our family's cultural legacy. For generations, the stories of my mother and grandmother were passed down in whispers—a necessity born of an Act that suppressed our culture. I was a child who witnessed this silence, and it stayed with me.
Today, Tarmunggie is our way of making those voices heard. Our work is inspired by our matriarchal home, the Toobeah Reserve, which has been handed back to my family and Bigambul. Every piece of art, story, workshop, and design is a powerful act of truth-telling and a tribute to the resilience of our people.
I’ve spent my life as a teacher and artist, and Tarmunggie represents the fusion of those two passions: to educate, share, and build a future where our cultural knowledge is not just preserved but celebrated. This business is my passion, my purpose, and my contribution to building a lasting legacy for the next generation of Bigambul women and First Nation people.
Our vision is to amplify and celebrate First Nations women's voices through storytelling, art, education, cultural practices and design.
